Lemon Balm

Botanical name: Melissa officinalis
Common name: Sweet Balm, Lemon Balm

Lemon Balm has traditionally been used as a mild sedative and calming agent, and was a favourite ingredient in medieval ‘elixirs of youth’.

Studies have shown Lemon Balm to increase feelings of calmness, and to improve the quality of memory in young, healthy volunteers. Recent research also demonstrates positive findings with using Lemon Balm in the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease.
